The Welsh Council Tax Benefit Take Up campaign now complete
The campaign was a shared initiative between seven Welsh Local Authorities (LAs), - including four that are not Capita Revenues and Benefits customers - Capita Call Centre, Coventry and Talkingtech UK Ltd (specialised data dialing company).
The process started in November 2008 and involved the LAs submitting Council Tax data to Talkingtech for customers not currently in receipt of Council Tax Benefit. Talkingtech harvested telephone numbers for those customers. These were passed to the LA and loaded into their respective Revenues and Benefits systems. A selection process was run to provide Talkingtech with a number of customers they could contact to invite them to apply for the benefit. If the customer chooses to continue they are put through to the Capita Call Centre, and a means test is undertaken. If passed, the customer is given a time at which they will be called back to go through the application process. Once completed, this is passed back to the LA, either on paper or electronically using e-claim technology.
As a result of the automated dialling, Capita Call Centre dealt with in excess of 31,000 calls in a six month period of the campaign. 2,300 of these resulted in claim forms being forwarded to the LAs. The project was completed in July 2009 and has been viewed as a success. |
